The Sport Management Student Association held its first meeting of the year last week. Attendees enjoyed complementary pizza and soda. SMSA is designed for sport management students to become more active and further their experience in the major. Though this organization is designed for sport management students, all students are welcome to join.
“It was nice to see familiar faces as well as new ones,” member Peter Pannasow said.
The meeting started with everyone introducing themselves, sharing their hometown and sharing their favorite athletic team. The majority said the Philadelphia Eagles while one student said the Los Angeles Angels, a choice that some found interesting.
Debates began following introductions. The group discussed styles of clothing that it could sell for an upcoming fundraiser. Members were debating colors and styles as executive board members constantly regrouped in order to get everyone under control.
The executive board then revealed the new logo for the club, which drew some compliments. Also, new social media sites platforms were introduced, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The meeting ended with questions from freshmen asking about professors, classes and future opportunities to be successful in the sport management major.
The group hopes that students continue to come to meetings in order to ensure success for SMSA in the coming years.
